Artists Statement:

Lindsay Hawks fights cohesion.

Feeling that art is a language, she aims to explore all the nuiances, possibilities and variations the visual tongue can provide.

She also feels that artist's statements appear too much like a branding mechanism, and refuses to adhear to such over simplification and classification.

Read about individual projects. Use your noggin and see if you can pull together any underlying themes. Email me about it or write me an artists statement and I'll post your analysis here.

Artists Bio:

Lindsay is from Portsmouth, Virginia. This port's mouth is home to a very large U.S. naval base, and the industry that follows such an institution. Her fondest memories include painting oval rocks to look like particular bird eggs with her grandmother, and hunting the monster that lived in the Suffolk woods with only a bow and arrow and her best friend Brittany. She now lives in the Washington D.C. area and is enjoying the process of earning her BFA from George Mason University.
